Puppy Prep List, What You Need Before Bringing Your Puppy Home
Bringing your puppy home should feel exciting, not overwhelming. Here’s everything we recommend having ready so your transition is smooth, structured, and stress-free for both of you.
Essentials
• Crate, 18 inch to start, 24 inch as they grow, 36 inch for adult size
• Food and water bowls, stainless steel preferred
• BJsrawpetfood (premium mix) OR Victor High Pro Plus for a high quality kibble
• Collar/harness and leash, very lightweight to start
• ID tag/Air tag with your contact information
Sleeping & Crate Setup
• SOUND MACHINE!!! (Holy grail)
• Washable crate pad
• Optional, heartbeat puppy or comfort item
• Light blanket or crate cover for covering crate if needed.
Training Foundations
• Puppy grass pads with a designated potty area setup
• Enzyme cleaner for accidents
• Treats for training, small and soft- we like BilJac and wellness soft puppy bites.
Toys & Enrichment
• A few chew toys, not too many at once
• Plush animals that crinkle - I send puppy home with one
• Teething toys for the early weeks
• Natural Farm Cow Hooves (no filler)
• Lick Mats- I will send puppy home with one along with some Buddy Butter to spread on it.
• Puzzle toy, snuffle mats, or enrichment slow feeder for inside mental stimulation.
Health & Grooming
• Puppy shampoo- Bugalug Baby Fresh
• Nail clippers or grinder (your puppy is familiar with both)
• Brush appropriate for coat type
• Ear cleaner for after baths
• Toothbrush and dog-safe toothpaste
Feeding & Nutrition Add-Ins (Optional but Recommended)
• Fish oil for skin and coat
• Multivitamins for overall health
• Pumpkin (canned) for digestion support
• TurkeyTail Mushroom Powder for immune support (Holy Grail especially before vaccinations are finished).
Home Setup Tips
• Pick a consistent potty area to place the grass pads before puppy arrives
• Create a calm, designated pen/space for the crate
• Limit access to the whole house at first, they need to earn trust and freedom
• Remove anything you don’t want chewed
