Why Raw?

Raw Feeding, The Raised Right Pups Standard

At Raised Right Pups, every decision we make is intentional, from our pairings to how each puppy is raised in our home. Nutrition is not an afterthought, it is a foundational piece of how we develop stable, healthy, long-living dogs.

We introduce our puppies to raw feeding early because it supports what we prioritize most, optimal digestion, true nutrient absorption, and a stronger start from the inside out.

What Sets Raw Apart?

Raw feeding is built on fresh, biologically appropriate ingredients, real meat, organ, and bone, in their most natural and usable form.

Unlike kibble, which is manufactured under high heat and pressure, raw retains its natural enzymes, moisture, and nutrient integrity. Nothing is stripped away and then artificially replaced.

Why This Matters in the First 8 Weeks

Those first weeks are where everything begins.

A puppy’s digestive system, immune response, and overall development are being shaped in real time. Feeding raw during this stage allows us to build that foundation the right way.

We consistently see:

firmer, more stable stools

less bloating and digestive upset

stronger, more resilient immune systems

healthier skin and coat development

steady, balanced growth

This is not about trends, it’s about giving their body what it can actually recognize and use.

The Truth About Kibble

Kibble is designed for convenience and shelf stability, not biological optimization.

It is produced using high heat processing, which strips away natural nutrients and enzymes. Because of this, it requires synthetic vitamins and minerals to be added back in just to meet basic nutritional standards.

In addition, many kibble formulas rely on plant-based protein sources, such as peas and legumes, to artificially increase protein percentages. These ingredients are not as easily digested or utilized by dogs and can be harder on the digestive system, especially in developing puppies.

So while the label may read “high protein,” the source and usability of that protein matters.

A Higher Standard From Day One

We don’t believe in doing what is easiest, we believe in doing what is best.

Starting our puppies on raw allows us to:

build a stronger, more stable gut

support long-term immune health

create confident, consistent eaters

lay the groundwork for lifelong wellness

This intentional start doesn’t just impact their first few weeks, it carries into their entire life.

The Long-Term Impact on Health

What you do early matters, and the gut plays a central role in that.

A large portion of your dog’s immune system is rooted in the gut. When that system is supported properly from the beginning, it helps regulate inflammation, defend against disease, and maintain overall balance in the body.

When the gut is consistently stressed, whether from highly processed foods or harder-to-digest ingredients like peas and legumes used to replace real meat protein, it can lead to chronic inflammation over time. And chronic inflammation is widely recognized as a contributing factor in many long-term health issues, including diseases like cancer.

Feeding highly processed kibble long term is not that different from a person eating cereal for every meal their entire life. It may meet basic requirements on paper, but it’s not truly nourishing the body the way whole, real food does.

This is why we focus so heavily on building a strong, stable gut from the start.

By feeding a biologically appropriate, minimally processed diet early on, we are:

supporting proper immune function

reducing unnecessary inflammation

helping the body function the way it was designed to

This is not about short-term feeding choices, it is about setting your puppy up for a healthier, more stable life.

Our Commitment to You

We understand that not every family will continue raw feeding long term, and we fully support you in whatever feeding route works best for your lifestyle.

We believe in understanding how the body works, not just meeting minimum standards.

Everything we do is built around one goal, to give our puppies the strongest, most intentional foundation possible from the very beginning.

You can’t expect exceptional dogs from average standards. We raise ours differently from the very beginning, and that intention shows up in your puppy’s life through stronger health, more stability, and fewer issues down the road, often saving you significantly in long-term care and vet costs.

Our Approach Is Grounded in Research

At Raised Right Pups, our decisions are not based on trends or opinions, they are supported by decades of research in canine nutrition, digestion, and long-term health.

Our approach is informed by established work and ongoing studies from:
