Sound Desensitization, Did You Know?
Did you know, we begin sound desensitization before puppies can even hear. Yes, before—because true stability starts early.
Puppies are born deaf. Their ears don’t open until around 3 weeks old, but we don’t wait until then. We begin with vibration-based exposure—like rhythmic movement, floor tapping, and soft background noise—so their little bodies can feel the world in a calm, consistent way before they even register sound.
Once their ears open, we gradually introduce real-world sounds in short, safe, positive sessions. And this week’s soundtrack includes:
Fireworks
Thunder
Barking Dogs
Fire alarms
Train horns
Truck engine starting
Dropped bowls & clattering metal
Busy parking lots
But here’s the why behind it all
Golden Retrievers are known for their loyalty, empathy, and people-pleasing nature, but that also means they’re naturally sensitive. Without intentional early exposure, they will often develop:
• Strange fears (random objects, loud noises, slippery floors)
• Startle reflexes
• Separation anxiety
• Generalized nervousness
We don’t want that for our puppies.
We don’t want to raise Goldens you have to tiptoe around or apologize for. We want dogs who are confident in the world around them and emotionally stable for life.
So we don’t wait for confidence to develop—we build it.
Sound by sound. Day by day.
Because this isn’t just “basic training.”
It’s the foundation of a calm, capable dog who can handle the real world with resilience—and it starts with being Raised Right.
And now, after 6 weeks of consistent desensitization, you can see the difference.

Calm.
Curious.
Unbothered
